Chinaisanancientcountrywitharichculturallegacy.ThebeautyofChina’snaturalareasandthediversityofitsculturallandscapeshasgainedmuchattentionfromallovertheworld.Theharmoniousmulti-nationaldevelopmentinthisregionoftheworldprovidesagoodbackgroundforstudyingtherelationshipsbetweencultureandlandscape.Overthepastthreedecades,Chinahasexperiencedadramaticchangeineconomicaldevelopmentwhichhasresultedinacceleratingratesoflandscapechangeandtheinevitableconflictsbetweenmanandenvironment.Chinanowfacesthechallengeofdevelopinglandscapepracticesthatwillprovideabasisforeconomicgrowthaswellasenvironmentalsecurity.

ByorganizingtheIALECongress,wewishtobringtheseissuestotheattentionofinternationalscientistsandtoestablishaplatformforthemtostartcooperativeresearchprojectsinChina.WewelcomeallIALEmembersandinterestedindividualstoparticipateinthiscongressinBeijingwithourfullhospitality.WeexpecttoprovidearichacademicandsocialexperiencethatparticipantsinIALEWorldCongresseshavealwaysenjoyed.
